About
My name is Jiapu Liang. I define myself as a PhooDie Candidate in Biomedical Engineering.
Born and raised in a family full of mechanical engineers, I have been interested in engineering ever since I was a child. In addition to engineering, I also have a strong interest in the biological sciences. Biology has always been instrumental in my understanding of the world, and engineering has been the tool that has helped me to solve the problems I have encountered in it. After searching for a combination of these two, I finally located my role in biomedical engineering field.
I am currently pursuing a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering at University of Florida right after I received my thesis-based MS degree in Mechanical Engineering at the same school. My current research focuses on developing a translational biomaterial platform for cell-based treatment of Type 1 diabetes, which is conducted in Stabler Diabetes Tissue Engineering Laboratory at University of Florida. I hope my work would contribute to finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes affected individuals.
Aside from my work, my biggest dream is to travel around the world to have an adventure on the tip of my tongue. I am also an amateur photographer.
